News - Owen Pops Up To Promote Great Eastern Run

Owen cutoutThere are still five months to go before the east of England's premier running event but already indications are that entries will reach 6,000 for the 2013 renewal of the Perkins Great Eastern Run. Interest has been encouraged by the use of an entry form cut-out runner which is being displayed by sponsors and other supporters at locations across Peterborough.

News - City Slickers Get Set

Runners at post-race partyCity workers are getting set to swap their well-buffed shoes for trainers this autumn ahead of the Bloomberg Square Mile Relay. The annual event sees teams of 10 representing city companies competing within the heart of the city of London.

There is space for up to 115 teams at the celebratory midweek event on Thursday 19 September with a £5000 cheque available for the winners to award to the charity of their choice.

News - Going Greek

Athens runnerFollowing the route taken by Greek soldier Philippides over 2,500 years ago, Athens Classic marathon allows participants to sample history and see where the modern-day marathon originated. Legend has it that Philippides ran from the town of Marathon to Athens in 490 BC and thousands of participants will retrace his footsteps on 10 November this year.

Paula Radcliffe is currently in the lead with 31.6% of the votes, followed by Mo Farah in second (17.5%) and Haile Gebrselassie and Steve Ovett in joint third (10.5%).

There are several big events on the running calendar this week with a particularly high number of 10Ks (14 in total). Runners at the Horsham 10K, Prestwood 10K and Heroes Run Brighton 10K will be hoping for some decent weather, though not as much as participants at the BH5K Naked Run...
