News - Strictly Come Running

Strictly DancersThe glamour of the ballroom comes to the Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon this Sunday as Strictly Come Dancing stars, Natalie Lowe and Ian Waite, are to start this year's race. The dancers from the popular TV show will be sounding the horn and lowering the flag at 9.00am on Sunday morning, sending the 16,000 runners on their way along the 13.1 mile run through four of London's central Royal Parks.

News - Woman Accidentally Wins Marathon

Merideth FitzmauriceA Canadian woman who entered a half marathon in Ontario ended up winning the full marathon after taking a wrong turn. Merdith Fitzmaurice was taking part in the Run for Heroes marathon/half marathon in Amherstburg as a test run before debuting at her first full marathon in Detroit.

Runtalk - Czechin Out Prague

Prague MarathonAfter winning his marathon debut in Helsinki in 1952, Czech athlete Emil Zatopek said: 'If you want to run, run a mile. If you want to experience a different life, run a marathon.' 43 years later, his home city hosted the inaugural Prague marathon.

Bournemouth Marathon PosterLast weekend's race results are now available online at southernrunningguide.com. Check out the results and upcoming events on our race listing page.

The inaugural Bournemouth Marathon Festival takes places this weekend. It includes a marathon, half marathon, 10k, 5k and junior races. The marathon begins in a tree-lined avenue within Bournemouth's Kings Park, taking in the trendy Southbourne area, the Stone Age settlement Hengistbury Head, cliff top views of the Isle of Wight, Boscombe Pier, Boscombe Chine Gardens, Poole Harbour and finishes at Lower Gardens.

Other notable races include Isle of Wight Marathon, Clarendon Half Marathon, and the Reading 020 10K.
