News - Return For Great Club Challenge

Brat 1The Great Run Club Challenge has returned for a second year to offer English athletes the chance to win prizes such as a trip to Ethiopia. Organised in partnership with England Athletics, the initiative takes place over six events.

News - Gebrselassie To Set Pace At London Marathon

Haile GebrselassieEthiopian running legend, Haile Gebrselassie will pace a world record attempt at this year's Virgin London Marathon on 13 April. The 40-year-old will set the pace for the men's elite field which includes marathon debutant Mo Farah and Kenya's Wilson Kipsang.

Poll - What Distance Was Your First Race?

Downhill RacersIn our poll this month we want to know what your first race distance was. Did you train hard and start off on a half marathon, or did you decide to see how you faired against others in a 5k first?

So far half marathons and 5ks are the most chosen distances with 30% of the vote each. Meanwhile 10k is in second place with 27%.

Portsmouth Coastal RunnersLast weekend's race results are now available online at southernrunningguide.com. Check out the results and upcoming events on our race listing page.

Sunday’s Portsmouth Coastal Half Marathon offers participants fantastic views across Solent to the Isle of Wight, with the Portsmouth and Southsea seafront taking in Royal Marine's Museum, South Parade Pier and the Portsmouth Pyramids Centre. This weekend also sees the return of the Cholsey chase after an eight year absence. The multi-terrain 9-mile run goes along the picturesque South Oxfordshire countryside and includes a challenging hill.
