Kent Kicks Off

2 FEB2012

Canterbury 10

The 2012 Kent Grand Prix kicked off last weekend with the Canterbury 10 mile event with nearly 900 finishers at the opener of the 10 race series. Conditions were wet with deep puddles pockmarking the course, but otherwise it was ideal for distance running; it was cool, calm and on a fairly flat course.

Andrew Rayner of Blackheath and Bromley won the race in a swift 53:31 from Robert Latala in 54:49 and Alex Riches in 55:16. Rona Louber of Folkstone Running Club led the ladies home, dipping under the hour in 59:16.

There were 899 finishers it total for the race on Sunday (January 29), the midpoint finisher was Dan Harden in 1:21:55. The next event in the county-wide series is the Deal half marathon on Sunday, February 12.
