Big Fun Runs Kick Off This Weekend

8 JUL2010

The start of a Big Run Run

Summer 2010s 'Big Fun Run' 5K races start this weekend with the first race on Saturday in Stirling, Scotland, followed by Aberdeen's race on Sunday. The events form part of a series of 24 events across the UK, taking place exclusively within scenic parks that are both safe and pleasant running environments.

The runs aim to bring friends and families together to share in the fun of running, hopping, skipping or jumping around the 5K course.

Hamish Moir, Big Fun Run Event Director told southernrunningguide.com, "All the Big Fun Run team is hoping that the runners and walkers in the Big Fun Runs can yet again have a positive experience. We aim for the events to be an introduction to novices or a light hearted change for more committed runners. We are also delighted that so many have chosen to run for one of our partner charities. We would encourage those who are still thinking about it to join in with their local event and share in a great community experience."

Runs across the south east of England include London Crystal Palace and Victoria Park, Milton Keynes and Watford, with new races this year in both Southampton and Maidstone. The races in the south will take place from Saturday, September 11 through to Sunday, October 10.

Entries are open for races around the country and Big Fun Run also supports many local and national charities, with discounted entry prices for those choosing to support one of the partner charities.
