Step Into 2012

7 FEB2012

Childline runners

For many, hill repeats are the most laborious and least enjoyable aspect of training. As a means of making this necessary part of your training more pleasurable, runners are being encouraged to tackle London's Gherkin building as part of the Step Change 2012 campaign.

The event, which takes place on Sunday, March 4, involves scaling 38 flights of stairs - a total of 1,037 steps to the summit of the building. The challenge is being organised by NSPCC, with all funds going to ChildLine.

Olympic gold medallist Sally Gunnell is supporting the event and feels the race is a great way to test your fitness: "With this event every step counts - 1,037 steps in fact! It's an opportunity to see the fantastic views from the top of the Gherkin, but more importantly, a chance to support ChildLine's vital services during its 25th anniversary year, what more could you ask for on a Sunday morning?"

The Step Change 2012 is open to corporate teams, individuals, groups of friends and, for the first time, families. For more information, visit the event website.
