2016 Championship Fixtures Revealed

Age UK Leeds Abbey DashEngland Athletics and British Athletics have confirmed the events that will make up the road race championships for 2016. The championships will run from April to November and will be of particular interest for athletes aiming for international level.

London (and the Marathon) will be the location for the first event as the 26.2 mile event celebrates its 35th year on 24 April. The junior race – the Virgin Money Giving Mini London Marathon – will provide Young Athletes with a chance of taking the three mile British junior titles.

The following month, the Westminster Mile and London 10,000m will once again be the events to decide who will become the British champions over the respective distances. Moving north, the Robin Hood Half Marathon will play host to the British Half Marathon Championship on 25 September.

The penultimate event is the world’s leading 10 mile race, the Great South Run. Scheduled for Sunday 23 October, up to 25,000 runners will travel to Portsmouth for the event’s 27th staging. On Sunday 6 November the championships will come to a close at the Age UK Leeds Abbey Dash. As ever, the 10k will throw up some fierce competition at the top with the race seen as ideal for setting a fast time.
