There was a total sell-out and record times recorded at the recent Dirt Half Challenge. The fourth edition of the race took place in Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire on 16 November in cold and damp conditions.
But with not too much mud underfoot, many of the field achieved personal bests despite the challenging nature of the half marathon course. For the fourth year running the race was won by course record holder Greg Spellman of Rugby & Northampton AC in 01:19:15, followed by Jamie Farmer of David Lloyd Redway Runners in 01:21:07 and Tom May of Leighton Buzzard Athletic club in 01:22:18.
First lady was Jennifer McBain with an impressive time of 1:28:35 followed by Libby Wechter in 01:32:23 and Michelle Pank in 1:32:31. Female Vet prizes were won by Jennifer McBain (FV35), Lesley Jenkinson-Thorne (FV45) and Dian Sandover (FV55).
Mens Vet categories were won by Greg Spellman (MV40), Nigel Sheppard (MV50) and Kenneth Fancett (MV60) - all of whom defended their titles from last year - and Nigel Lambert (MV70).
The team prize was won again this year by David Lloyd Redway Runners from Milton Keynes, Jamie Farmer, William Shippin, Tony Daglish, Paul Clifford Jones and Simon Read.
