Festival Of Fitness At Virgin Sport Hackney Half

Hackney half Marathon

A 'Festival of Fitness' is promised by Virgin Sport at the Hackney Half Marathon on 20 May 2018 and readers of runABC can claim £5 off their entry with code 'HALFRUNABC'.

This will be the second running of this great new event, launched by Sir Richard Branson with a confetti cannon in the happening borough of Hackney last year. More than 300 runners ran sub-90 minutes in 2017 and there were 8,200 finishers in London's freshest 13.1 mile race.

The inaugural champions and course record setters were Paul Whittaker (Southend, 1:06:55) and Isabel Clark (Serpentine, 1:18:10). The supporting 5.5km run was headed by Dipesh Dhimar (19:19) and Gretchen Andrus (20:37) and hundreds of excited local kids completed their Schools Challenge under the main finish line banner.

Virgin Sport Hackney Half Marathon is a festival of fitness for everyone. Runners and supporters can take part in Go Fit Yourself boot camp style classes or more holistic sessions like yoga and dance sessions. After the racing is done there will be plenty of local food, craft beer and live entertainment to enjoy in the Fan Hubs.

The half marathon course claims to be one of London's flattest and fastest routes and certainly has the wow factor as it passes through Hackney Downs, Hackney Empire, Broadway Market, Victoria Park and the London Olympic Stadium.

Individual entrants can save £5 with the 'HALFRUNABC' code and up to £45 can be saved by entering a group of five runners without any special code required. Groups of four or more are eligible for prizes of £100 donation to their chosen charity – one prize each for the fastest male team, fastest female team and fastest mixed team.
