Mizuno Wave Rider 21 Running Shoes
The Wave Rider 21 takes Mizuno's flagship neutral shoe to a new level. The best of Mizuno's cutting edge technologies come together to create a shoe that is cushioned and responsive and offers the highest levels of comfort and efficiency. We look at the three elements of this top shoe and explain how they work together to create a unique running experience for the neutral runner.
The upper of the Wave Rider 21 is constructed of breathable air mesh that allows air to circulate creating a perfect in-shoe microclimate. The upper has a 'dynamotion' fit that works and moves with the foot throughout a run. The design and materials that are used to create the 'dynamotion' fit work together to allow to assist natural movement while also providing structure to the upper.
The 'dynamotion' fit also uses the latest motion capture and biomechanics technology and works with the foot's gait cycle while a new anatomical sockliner adds more cushioning and comfort for perfect fit.
One of the big successes of the Rider is the 'wave' - the midsole technology that works to absorb the shock of heel striking and then transfers that energy to the forefoot to push you off and guide you onto the next movement.
The midsole features a full-length ventilation system that reduces heat and humidity while 'smoothride' technology creates the smoothest ride possible throughout the gait cycle.
Mizuno's unique midsole materials (U4ic and U4icX) offer a superb combination of lightweight and cushioning and deliver a more comfortable ride with higher rebound properties than standard midsole units.
Durability and traction arrive in the form of an X10 outsole. The extremely substantial carbon rubber allows for longer wear in high impact areas and provides more traction at the heel strike, allowing you to run hard with confidence. Flex grooves are added to the outsole to promote natural movement from the heel to the forefoot, initiating a rocking chair motion for fluid strides.
The Wave Rider21 retails at £129.99.
