Spitfire Scramble 24-Hour Relay

This is London's ONLY 24-hour off road relay race.

Participants can enter as soloists, pairs, teams of three to five or teams of six to eight. The event village will provide catering for 24 hours, toilets, hot showers, sports massage and sponsors area as well as a live results screen to keep runners up to date with their position.

You'll start at noon on the Saturday and won't stop again until noon on Sunday, taking turns to run laps of the course and handing over to teammates at the start/finish.

Camping and parking is provided free on-site.

The park still echoes with memories of its former life, with several pillboxes and gun turrets remaining in place. These will all be features of the 5.8-mile multi terrain route runners will be tackling.

FacilitiesThe park stands on the former site of RAF Hornchurch, a crucial airfield in both World Wars. During the Battle of Britain, countless Spitfire missions, flown by some of the most decorated pilots of their time, were launched from here. Nestled on the edge of East London, the park is accessible by tube and train, and at the highest point of the course runners will get a sharp reminder of just how close to the city we are with views all the way to the Shard and Canary Wharf. Free camping, parking, toilets and showers will be provided, with a catering tent on-site.
