Dorney Lake Marathon Prep Races
Sunday 29 March 2020
You don’t have to do those long marathon training runs alone!
We know that the marathon training journey can be a lonely one. For some, the progressively long runs through the cold winter months can mean being short on ideas for new routes, motivation to get it done and finding little support at your side mile after mile.
Our Marathon Prep event– this is our fourth year in 2020 – provides the perfect opportunity to do your longest training run in a supported environment – and get a medal for it!
With distance options of 16, 20 or 24 miles at the mesmerising (and flat) Dorney Lake, you’ll be able to practice your pacing, fuelling and endurance amongst hundreds of other runners. A real boost to help you head into your marathon feeling prepared and confident.
The four-mile course takes you around the perimeter of the lake with fuel and water stations placed every two miles. Pacers, mile markers and chip-timed results will make it as easy as possible to get your pacing right, so that you can focus on your run and practice refuelling and rehydrating during a race.
Not sure on which distance you should run? Don't worry, all three of 16, 20 or 24 miles have the same entry fee and you can change your mind at any time prior to race day. You can even change your mind mid-run and decide to run one or two laps more/fewer than planned.
Once you’re done, you'll receive a Marathon Prep medal, replenishing food and drink and your chip-timed result.
Don't miss the chance to prepare for a great marathon race day - take this opportunity to rehearse your:
- race day nutrition
- race preparation and travel
- running in a busy race situation with a marked out course that is new to you
- running in all of your marathon race kit
- race rehydration and refuelling
- recovery and strengthening.
From as little as £23, you can't afford to not prepare for your big day. Due to Dorney Lake capacity and ensuring a great, safe race experience, places are limited.
