Prolific running event organisers Nice Work demonstrated remarkable prescience when they promoted the Twilight Ultra, Marathon and Half Marathon at Redbridge Cycle Centre, Ilford on Saturday (28 July). Happy ultra-marathon winner, Mark Prigg (pictured), was among 100 runners who were pleased to complete their chosen distance before the heavens opened.
A 60-year-old member of Hart Road Runners in Hampshire has become one of the latest winners of a coveted Abbott World Marathon Majors (AWMM) Six Star Finisher medal. Foots Cray Meadows was a natural choice for the latest addition to the burgeoning parkrun family on Saturday (21 July). The 97 hectares represents the largest public open space in the London Borough of Bexley and the park is a well known venue for cross country league races in the winter.
The 2018 Elmbridge 10K on Sunday (22 July) used a modified course that started and finished on the new athletics track at the Xcel Leisure Centre in Walton-on-Thames. Race winners Scott Overall and Eleanor Harrison were among the 589 finishers who enjoyed the impressive new venue and attractive route on the River Thames path.
The Rotary Club of Caterham must have mobilised most of its 53 members to prepare and deliver the annual Caterham Rotary Half Marathon and 10K from Redhill Aerodrome yesterday (Sunday 22 July). With efficient race management by Sussex-based Nice Work and lead sponsorship from local independent North Downs Hospital it was a record breaking morning in the Surrey countryside.
