Join Ben Smith for family fun at the 401 Festival of Running

401 Festival of Running 2019

Local hero, Ben Smith, of 401 marathons in 401 days fame, will be the star attraction at the 401 Festival of Running 2019 at Portishead, Bristol on Saturday 24 – Sunday 25 August. You can meet Ben and even emulate a fraction of his achievements by entering one or more of the four running events that add up to just one marathon at the 401 Festival of Running.

Ben Smith is an engaging character who possesses astonishing powers of physical endurance and mental toughness. His next major challenge will be to run a marathon in each of the 50 US states, starting in Maine in March 2020 and finishing in Hawaii in June 2020 – cycling between locations – covering 18,500 miles in 104 days to raise £1million for The 401 Foundation and Youth Sport Trust!

You can join Ben in his home town of Portishead for the third edition of this two-day festival, where the races include a 5km, 10km and Half Marathon, plus an additional 6.1km run for those that want to become Festival Challenge Finishers by completing a total of 26.2 miles. All Festival Challenge Finishers will be rewarded with the unique cube medal pictured below.

Children are also well catered for with four individual races across the weekend for a mini-challenge. Brought to you by The 401 Challenge Ltd and Nice Work the event is open to all ages and all abilities and it goes without saying that the tail runners get the biggest cheers!

It's not just all about the running, of course. The famous 401 Challenge events village includes local organic food vendors, pop-up bars and a big screen Film Festival on the Saturday evening called 'Film on The Point'.

There are packages for all budgets ranging from £3.99 for children's races to £59.99 for the full, four-race Festival Challenge, including some amazing free goodies. The race HQ is at Battery Point, Esplanade Road, Portishead, Bristol, so sign up now to enjoy some school holiday family time in a fun, friendly, active and inspiring atmosphere.
