Now in its 5th year, the two lap Marathon, Half Marathon and 10K continues to attract tens of thousands of runners and spectators.
After consultation with Southampton City Council, the event has a new date of Sunday 5 May 2019 ensuring there's no clash with M27 road closures, maximising the enjoyment for entrants and spectators alike while minimising disruption for local residents.
The change of date may well be a blessing in disguise. It's a Bank Holiday weekend, there's no Southampton FC home game and it will be the first time since the event's inception that there's no clash with London Marathon so why not run both?!? OK, maybe a London warm down with the Half or 10K?
Locals have really taken the event to their hearts and there’s a huge sense of civic pride that surrounds the whole project but there are an increasing number of entrants from all over the UK and international entries continue to grow year on year.
Sunday 5 May 2019 is sure to be a real carnival day for the City of Southampton so be part of what will be a memorable spring date on the South Coast.
