Fancy a real challenge in the gorgeous West Country?

Bath Hilly Half half marathon and Bath Hilly Ultra-10K is the answer. It's an event where organisers proudly claim that you can expect a 'PW' (Personal Worst), but runners just love it.

Previously voted one of Britain's top ten trail races, the Bath Hilly Half is run on Remembrance Sunday (11 November 11) so it's a fitting day to challenge yourself and to help local charities via the Rotary Club of Bathavon. Both races start at 11.05 a.m. after a two-minute silence and the singing of the national anthem.

If it's so tough, why do runners love it?  Well, it's the challenge and quirky nature of the event run on a country course, with stiles, hills, tussocks, lots of mud, rough tracks, more hills, fantastic views and kissing gates although, rather disappointingly, organisers assure us that kissing is not obligatory! The amazing views just add to the event's charm.

‘Amazing' seems to be a recurring theme when it comes to describing the event.  Let's leave it to one previous entrant to sum it all up:

"Amazing race, amazing views, amazing marshals, amazing mud, amazing hills, pretty amazing really!!"
