700 runners enjoyed near perfect running conditions at the BMI Bolt Round The Holt trail race on Saturday (5 April) at the Alice Holt Forest in Farnham, The 1k kids’ race launched the day and just under 50 kids between the ages of 6 and 9 tore off into the woods, led by a marshal on a mountain bike. An hour later and after a mass warm up, a big field lined up on the start. At 10am they all started, on their way to complete 21k, 10k or 5k, all on hard packed trails and all traffic free.
Local running shop Fitstuff and Scott Run shoes donated prizes while GU Energy supplied gels at each water station. All money raised went to GUTS – Fighting bowel cancer and the Royal Surrey Hospital Charitable Fund.
In the long distance, Charl Jordaan headed home the men in 1:24:11. The leading woman was Helen Ibbotson in 1:35:58. The 10k distance saw wins from Daniel Hull (36:42:20) and Sandra Norwood (43:14:70), In the short 5k distance, Gary Peach won the men’s race in 17:59:30 and Nicola James won the women’s race in 22:21:30.
