Around 18,000 runners are gearing up for one the UK’s biggest marathons this weekend. The sixth edition of the Brighton Marathon is set to take place on Sunday with thousands tackling the coastal event, with thousands more entered for the BM10K and Mini Mile races.
The big day is preceded by the Brighton Marathon Weekend Seminars on Friday and Saturday, at which the headline name is Jo Pavey.
The 41-year-old will tell the story of how she became the oldest European champion in history just 10 months after giving birth to her second child.
On to race day and the elite fields will be headed by former winners Dominic Kangor and Eunice Kales. The Kenyan duo will have Ethiopia’s Musa Babo and Bahrain’s Lishan Dula as their main opposition respectively.
The BM10K begins at 8.30am on Sunday, with the marathon getting underway at 9.15am with Jo Pavey as the official starter.
