Organisers of the first ever Sanlam Bristol + Bath Marathon have announced that there are only 500 standard entries remaining for the city to city marathon. To date, over 6,000 runners have pledged to take on this unique running challenge for its debut year, which will see them run through three counties, starting in the city of Bristol at Queen Square and finishing at Royal Victoria Park in Bath.
Participants will also be treated to four time Ironman World Champion Chrissie Wellington as their official race starter, as well as being in the company of cancer survivor and Casualty actress Amanda Mealing, who will be taking part herself on Sunday 25 October.
Jamie Warren, Head of Marketing and Commercial Bath-based organiser GO2 Events, said: “The Sanlam Bristol + Bath Marathon has proved an extremely popular concept, right from day one when we first announced our plans at the end of 2014.
“We are extremely pleased to see that the positive momentum has kept up, and we are able to say that we will sell out of standard entries for the October race in the coming few weeks.
“If you have been one of the many runners considering signing up, now is the time to make the commitment to take on the challenge of the Sanlam Bristol + Bath Marathon before it’s too late!”
Additional charity spots are available for through affiliated charity partners CLIC Sargent, the Wallace & Gromit's Grand Appeal in Bristol, and the Forever Friends Appeal in Bath.
The brand new event boasts a completely closed-road route throughout the entire 26.2 mile course. Runners will take in the sights of the vibrant City of Bristol, including the SS Great Britain as they make their way through the beautiful and rolling countryside of South Gloucestershire on the journey to the UNESCO World Heritage City of Bath.
