Cheltenham Runners Under Starters Orders

Action from Cheltenham Half Marathon

Cheltenham club Almost Athletes have been announced as the inaugural running club of the year by organisers behind the town’s biggest mass participation event. Cheltenham Half Marathon Club of the Year will now play a vital role in helping promote the 13.1 mile event set for Sunday 7 September.

Amy Budd, race organiser at GO2, who stage the Cheltenham Half Marathon, said: “Almost Athletes pride themselves on being the kind of club that can help and encourage you to get the most out of your running, whether your interest is running for fun, getting fit, or training for anything from a 5k race to a marathon. These values run in parallel to what we at GO2 promote across all of our races, making for the perfect partnership!”

Graham Fletcher, chair of Almost Athletes said: "We are honoured to be the first club selected as the Club of the Year. I announced it last week at our club, and there was a massive cheer from members. They were delighted! The club look forward to an exciting year, building on the success of last year’s race, to make Cheltenham Half Marathon one of the 'go to' races in the South West.”

Entry is not yet open for Cheltenham Half Marathon, but there are over 2,000 runners already pre-registered for this year’s event. To find out more about Cheltenham Half Marathon and the Schools Challenge, visit the event website.
