Entries have opened for North Somerset’s Chew Valley 10k which will take place next summer. Now in its fourth year, this scenic road race will take place on Sunday 19 June 2016 at 9.30am, with Debbie Fortune Estate Agents as the main sponsor for both the 10k and children’s 1k events. In celebration of 2016 being an Olympic year, every 10k runner will receive a free technical T shirt included in their entry fee of £17 (or £15 for UK Athletics affiliated club runners).
Also new this year is a trophy for the fastest team, so work colleagues, friends, family members or fellow club runners can join forces in friendly competition.
Race director Denise Mellersh commented: “Running has so many health benefits. Of course it’s an excellent way to work off those extra Christmas calories but in the long term it can also help manage stress, build overall fitness and potentially even fight disease such as osteoporosis, diabetes, stroke and cancer.
“Entering a fun event like the Chew 10K is one of the best ways to get started, whatever your age or fitness level, and we’d encourage everyone to give it a try.”
The event is officially licensed by UK Athletics and chip-timed. As with the 2015 event, the 10k will start and finish close to race headquarters at Bishop Sutton Village Hall, where supporters can also enjoy a range of entertainment and refreshments. Entries are now available online at the Chew Valley 10K website.
