The Christow Show is a big event in the social calendar at the village located on the edge of Dartmoor National Park, near Exeter. Now you can bid for a best in show award by putting your best foot forward in the annual 5k cross country race, where there are trophies for the first two men and women and the first under-16 junior to finish. The race is organised by the local Maverick Runners.
The cross country race is back for another year on Saturday 20 August and Maverick Runners are proud to have been invited to organise it on behalf of the show committee. The route has been extended to 5k and is mainly on tracks and across fields. As the village is situated on the side of the Teign Valley you can expect some testing hills.
It will be rough in places and could be wet but there are some short stretches of tarmac so running spikes will not be suitable. The minimum age for entries is 12 and all pre-registered entries will get a ticket to the show as part of the entry fee of £5. On the day entries cost £3 plus £4 admission fee to the show, which is required as the start and finish are within the showground.
The show is well worth a visit with classes for dogs, horses and ponies, classic cars and all manner of produce. Delicious Devon delights will be available to consume to replenish the competitors after their exertions.
Maverick Runners is a small group of runners who formed about a year ago and who believe running should be about enjoyment, regardless of ability, as well as supporting other running friends to achieve their goals, whatever they may be.
