With 10 weeks to go until the inaugural Amba Hotels City of London Mile (Sunday 22 June), event organisers have added three races for members of the British Milers Club (BMC) - two men’s races and one women’s. 20 BMC members will be invited to each race and prizes will be awarded.

With a tagline of ‘How fast can you run a mile?’ the Amba Hotels City of London Mile consists of five events: Family Mile, Youth Mile, Corporate Mile, International Mile and City of London Mile, in addition to the BMC races.

The Amba Hotels City of London Mile is set to rival New York’s famous NYRR Fifth Avenue Mile and is open to everyone, with organisers expecting up to 5,000 participants. The Mile starts and finishes next to St. Paul’s Cathedral and follows a historic route, taking in Mansion House, the Bank of England, Guildhall and Bow Church. The route also covers part of the London Olympic Marathon course.

The winner of the BMC ‘A’ race at the event will win automatic entry into the International Mile in 2015. Prize money will also be up for grabs for the top three athletes on the day, amongst other prizes. British Milers Club runners who will be competing in the Amba Hotels City of London Mile will also be given a 30% discount voucher to spend in the Run-Fast running retail store, the official sports retail partner for the race.

Race director Tom Snow said: “Inclusion of a number of BMC races will provide British athletes with yet another world class opportunity and the perfect platform for athletes who want to make the big step. The BMC races will also be a fantastic racing spectacle in the buildup to the International Mile races.”

General entry to the Amba Hotels City of London Mile is open, go to the event website for more details.
