The countdown is on to the 10th anniversary edition of the Folkestone Rotary Club Half Marathon in September. The Kent favourite will take place on 27 September with special anniversary-themed commemorative medals.
There is another innovation for this year’s special event. Race director Ray Johnson says: “This year we are incorporating chip timing for the first time which will mean fast, accurate results on the day.
“The main charities that this year’s event will be supporting are Kent Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre and The Folkestone Rotary Club ‘Folkestone Project’ and runners will also have the opportunity to raise money for their chosen charity.
“It is possible to enter online at the Nice Work website or turn up on the day, although pre-registration is recommended.
“Last year we raised over £35,000 for good causes and we are hoping to exceed that amount this year.
The winning male and female will receive £100 prizes sponsored by Independent Insurance Services. The course has been accurately measured and will include Folkestone town centre, the seafront at Hythe with the finish down the finish at The Grand Hotel, Folkestone.
