Organisers of the Milano City Marathon are offering a number of free places to runners registered with a UKA athletics or running club. Established in 2000, the event is seen as one of Italy's fastest marathon courses and regularly attracts a big turnout, with almost 14000 runners taking part in this year.
Scheduled for Sunday 6 April 2014, the offer, which is only open to British and Italian clubs, means that thre free places will be allocated for every 20 registrations, 5 for every 30, and 8 for 40.
The course starts at Piazza Castello, close to the city's famous marble cathedral Duomo - the second-largest Gothic cathedral in the world, which has been under construction since 1386 - and finishes at the medieval Castello Sforzesco.
With three airports close by, the marathon may well work out as an inexpensive option for any running clubs planning a European trip in 2014. For more information, visit the runbritain website.
