As part of its 2013-17 Whole Sport Plan funding, England Athletics has been allocated a fund of £750,000 from Sport England for small capital investment projects like marked running routes and clubhouse improvements. The funding has been released for sports projects that benefit the community, with the hope of increasing the number of participants regularly taking part in all forms of athletics.
In laying out the criteria for funding, England Athletics will prioritise projects that provide new athletics training facilities e.g. sprint straights, marked running routes - particularly in urban areas, and clubhouses that contribute towards a more sustainable facilities stock.
Affiliated clubs, voluntary groups, local authorities and all non-profit organisations are eligible to make an application for funding. The strategic outcome of the project is to attract and retain 2.4million athletics participants by 2017, and to cement athletics as the most popular participant-led individual sporting pursuit in England.
Applications can be submitted up to 9am on Monday 16 September 2013. For more information, visit the England Athletics website.
