Godalming action

Entries are open for one of Surrey’s most picturesque events. The Godalming Run will take place for the fourth year in a row with 1k, 5k and 10k options around the rural town. The course covers riverside pathways, parks and woods before returning to its start point at the bandstand in Phillip’s Memorial Park. Taking place on Sunday 17 May, proceeds will go to Sport Godalming’s Go for Gold Champions Fund for local athletes who compete internationally and potentially at Rio 2016.

Michael O’Sullivan, vice chairman of Sport Godalming, commented: “There is always a super atmosphere in the town on the day of the Run, making it enjoyable for participants and spectators. It’s a family friendly event and many people take part year-on-year as they love the location. We received positive feedback about the routes we set in 2014 so people will be pleased that we have decided to use them again.

“Everyone who takes part this year will help Sport Godalming to provide local sports stars of the future with the funds they need to develop their talent and ultimately represent Great Britain at an Olympic level. Anyone looking for a new running challenge should sign up to the 5k or 10k this year!”

Hundreds have already signed up for the race which had over 600 participants last year. Register online at the Godalming Run website before 8 May 2015 or sign up on the day.
