The Golden Mile returns to Gosport promenade on Sunday 1 June to launch summer in the south-coast town. After a successful launch the event programme adds a 5k fun run plus a junior Golden Mile to the day's programme where the Golden Mile, sponsored by Adidas, is the feature race.
Race organiser Absolute Running, the innovative Gosport-based retailer, is anticipating a big increase on the promising 400 field which they attracted in 2013. Nick Carter at Absolute Running told southernrunningguide.com: "We added live race commentary from local radio station Wave 105 for the 2014 Golden Mile plus street entertainers, sports massage, medal engraving and sports photography courtesy of Wave Photography.
Nick continued: "We're excited about the new junior Golden Mile. Sponsorship from Adidas and local businesses means that we are offering great cash prizes, chip timing and a course certificate. The junior race incorporates the InterSchool Challenge Cup competition
which will see one school win a £300 cash prize.
"One other big plus is the fast and flat promenade course so we're now looking ahead to a the big summer date of Sunday 1 June and a great family day out on the coast."
