London's Green Belt Relay has been confirmed for the 21-22 May next year, organisers have announced.
It will be the 15th edition of the challenging race which starts from Hampton Court and circumnavigates London on towpaths, footpaths and quiet country lanes before returning to Kingston. The course is renowned for the spectacular scenery and interesting sites that it passes.
The Green Belt Relay covers a distance of 220 miles, with about 80% of the route off-road. Teams contain 11 runners who take two of the 22 stages each. The stages vary in distance from 5.6 to 13.5 miles. The course is marked throughout and each stage is accurately timed with prizes given for the individual and team winners.
Entries will officially open on 15 November 2010 and close on 18 March 2011. The entry is capped to 40 teams, who will be entered on a first-come first-served basis. Entries from runners of all standards are welcome.
