The Hogs Back Road Race, one of Britain’s best loved winter road races, is back for it’s 56th year. The challenging event takes place on Sunday 6 December in the Surrey Hills.
The race is managed on behalf of Guildford & Godalming AC by aat events who deliver some of Surrey’s best-known run events such as the Fitstuff G3 Series and 2XU Surrey Half Marathon.
“We’re honoured to be managing this historic running event for Guildford & Godalming AC and expect a big turn out following the success of last year’s event,” says Toby Jenkins, race director at aat events. The club will be providing the volunteers on the day to ensure a safe and enjoyable run for everyone."
Road closures will be in place and residents are being notified over the coming weeks. The whole community is involved in preparing for the event, which expects to attract over 800 runners.
“We are very grateful to Michael More-Molyneux for the use of the Loseley Estate as our parking, start and finish area,” added Toby Jenkins. “And I would also like to thank our sponsors – Fitstuff, Guildford Sports Clinic and Hogs Back Brewery who make the event possible.”
Finishers will receive a Hog-shaped medal and be invited to try beer samples provided by the local Hogs Back Brewery. The amended route, changed for 2012, had been well received by athletes, so sign up soon at the event website.
