Sports Tours International has followed up news of sponsorship of the City of Manchester 10K (July 4) with details of a major deal with retailer JD for the City of Salford 10K (September 5). Both races are popular events in the north of England running calendar.
JD, well known for their involvement in music and football, are taking their first steps into road race sponsorship. They are looking forward to welcoming over 1,000 entrants in the first JD Sports City of Salford 10k. The rebranded event takes place in the heart of Salford Quays on Sunday, September 5 and will look to build on the success of the city council funded 2009 10k.
Commenting on the association, JD Chief Executive Barry Bown says: "This is an exciting event for us to get involved with. We are not only a progressive sports fashion retailer we are also very committed to working in our core regions to promote an active lifestyle."
Barry adds: "We are also delighted to be supporting four deserving charities, Help the Heroes, Macmillan, Rathbone and a charity local to Salford, Kidscan. I hope that our involvement will encourage runners to participate and raise valuable funds for these worthy causes."
JD will be providing 'goody bags' for all runners and there will be prizes in all categories.
Salford City Council is supporting this event as part of its Events to Shout About programme, which aims to build on the city's growing reputation as a world-class visitor destination. The JD Sports City of Salford 10k is a race for people of every standard and ALL are welcome. Entry forms for the race can be obtained online at the Sports Tour International website.
