Industrious Sussex-based race promoters Nice Work have been in touch to remind runners about the arrangements for the Lamberhurst New Year's Day 10K & 5K. The popular pipe-opener will take place on a brand new course at beautiful Bewl Water (pictured above) as Scotney Castle is unable to accommodate the event on this occasion.

The scenic course will comprise one lap for 5K; two laps for 10K and will take in many of the fabulous waterside views across Bewl Water Reservoir – the largest stretch of open water in the South East, with enough water to supply nearly 200 million people.

The 800 acre site is set in an AONB in the heart of the High Weald and is open all year – which is a bonus for anyone hoping to be one of the first race finishers of 2020.

Race time is a respectable 10:00am and although it might be a tad early in the day a seasonal 'nip' will be offered to all finishers! Other Nice Work touches include a bespoke medal, chip-timing, finish-line goodies and awards to leading runners and age-group winners.

There will also be a short course race for children, so bring the family and enjoy a bracing morning as you blow away the cobwebs of 2019 in style.

Last year's winners were Anthony Bradley (Lonely Goat RC, 36:10) and Tina Oldershaw (Tonbridge, 41:30) and the top finishers in the supporting 5K were Adam Roeder (Tonbridge, 21:28) and Michelle McManus (25:31). There were 300 in the 10K and 121 ran half the distance.

This will be the 6th Lamberhurst New Year's Day season opener and Nice Work are keen to ensure the continued success of the race at the new venue. Entries are still available but there is an overall race limit of 500, so don't delay. Fees are £5 for the children's race and £16/£18 for the 5K; £18/£20 for the 10K.

Full race and entry details are at Nice Work's website here although we cannot promise weather like that shown in the image of Bewl Water above!
