The European City of Culture for 2017 is the host venue for the Logicom Paphos Marathon, Half Marathon, 10k and 5k on Sunday, 5 March. This will be the 19th staging of this popular event that sees many British athletes enjoying the scenery and sunshine among the hundreds of Cypriot and overseas competitors.
The marathon starts from Petra Tou Romiou (legendary birthplace of Aphrodite, goddess of love and beauty) at exactly 7:30am with courtesy buses to the start from 6:30am. The point to point course features breathtaking scenery along the Mediterranean seafront. The course is accredited by AIMS (Association of International Marathons) and is marked at every kilometre.
All participants will receive a technical T-shirt, medal, certificate and plenty of hydration every 3kms on the course and legendary Cypriot hospitality at the finish in front of the historic Paphos harbour fort.
The shorter races all start and finish at Paphos Harbour and feature fast, flat courses beside the Mediterranean Sea with an exciting finish alongside the marathon runners due to the later start times.
Presentation time is always a highlight as local musicians and dancers entertain and beer, fruit juice and fresh fruit are freely available to all the competitors.
