Over 1700 runners defied the mud to take part in the London Cross Country Championships on Saturday (15 November). Taking place at the iconic Parliament Hill course on Hampstead Heath, the event also featured the Balfour Beatty London Youth Games for younger age groups.
The senior men’s race was won by Dean Lacy of Cambridge Harriers ahead of Glenn Hughes of Serpentine and former winner Chris Smith of Thames Valley Harriers. The first lady was 17 year old Phoebe Law of Kingston & Poly, second went to Lara Bromilow of Victoria Park and third to Hannah Viner of Highgate Harriers.
In the London Youth Games, England Schools international Sabrina Sinha of Greenwich was the standout performer, winning her fourth consecutive gold medal at the annual event. Southwark won the overall male team title and Wandsworth the overall female crown.
Olympic marathon runner and former London Youth Games competitor Scott Overall presented the prizes.
