Run Fast At Mercer Surrey Half 2018

Surrey Half Marathon start 2017

With just over three months to race day, now is the time to commit to the multi-award winning Mercer Surrey Half Marathon promoted by AAT Events on Sunday, 11 March 2018. This race is ideally positioned for a spring marathon warm up or an opportunity to get an early personal or season's best for the New Year.

Mercer Surrey Half Marathon draws 5,000 runners to Woking Leisure Centre and has been voted by participants as the UK's Best Road Race in 2016. This will be the sixth edition of a race that raises £400,000 annually for charity. More than 500 children will take part in their own Mercer Surrey Half Marathon Kid's Race, in one of UK's largest races for children aged 6–16.

The half marathon includes the Morrisons Solicitors Corporate Challenge for teams of three or more and there is also a fast and furious 5k with PB potential on one of the few closed road courses in Britain. This year 461 runners also enjoyed the big race atmosphere in the 5k in times ranging from sub-17 minutes to 53:33.

The title holders in the half marathon are Andrius Jaksevicius (Belgrave Harriers, 1:09:50) and Helena Eastham (Ravens, 1:22:24) with 3,670 runners completing the mainly flat, rural course in 3:35:52. The course records are held by Run Fast athletes Sammy Nyokaye (1:02:42, 2015) and Damaris Areba (1:10:58, 2016).

Mercer Surrey Half Marathon is known for much more than fast times and exemplary race management. The whole family will be entertained by the activities on offer in the pop-up Event Village including live video streaming on a giant TV screen, dance performances, live music, charity stalls, shops and cafes. There will also be opportunities to take advantage of race day deals offered by businesses and restaurants in Woking Town Centre.

Live music, water stations and communities of cheering supporters all add to the atmosphere throughout this picturesque race. One band has even signed up to perform as they run the half marathon! All runners receive a large medal and head wrap at the finish line, along with other goodies. Beginner, intermediate and advanced training plans are available to download free of charge for all entrants (courtesy of event partners Synergy Physiotherapy).

Mercer Surrey Half Marathon is open now for entries at £37.50 or £17 for the 5k and £12 for the Kid's Race. Simply visit the race website for full details and to sign up.
