Local businesses are being challenged to see who is the fastest in Milton Keynes as part of the city’s annual marathon. The Geoffrey Leaver Corporate Challenge has been part of the Milton Keynes Marathon since the inaugural event in 2012.
Following the success of the event over the last two years Geoffrey Leaver Solicitors are once again pleased to be sponsoring the race that encourages businesses to come together and challenge each other.
Race Director, Andy Hully, said, “The Geoffrey Leaver Corporate Challenge gives organisations a chance to get together, get fit, have fun and raise money for charities that are important to them.
“An event like this creates a sense of team spirit and achievement. It’s a great opportunity for colleagues to get together and raise money for good causes. Plus with the corporate relay event you get to run in one of the UK’s top 10 marathons without having to train for the full marathon distance.”
Richard Millard, Partner at Geoffrey Leaver Solicitors, said, “The great thing about this event is that people of all abilities can participate, not just the regular runners. We have had people run who do not exercise regularly but started to train in January and felt really good about taking part.”
Race organisers are now accepting entries for the Geoffrey Leaver Corporate Challenge which takes place on Bank Holiday Monday 5th May 2014.
Teams of four compete over the 26.2 mile distance with each member running approximately 6.5 miles of the marathon course before passing on the baton to the next member of their team.
Entry into the Geoffrey Leaver Corporate Challenge is just £150 + vat for a team of four, and all corporate relay teams are asked to pledge to raise at least £500 for charity of which 50% goes to MK Dons SET and 50% goes to a charity of the relay team’s choice.
This year, corporate relay teams will also benefit from their own hospitality area overlooking the finish at stadiummk and the winning team will receive a MK Dons match day VIP experience plus trophies for each team runner and a company trophy.
“It’s a great opportunity for businesses to get involved in what will be one of the major days in Milton Keynes’ 2014 sporting event calendar,” said Mr Hully.
In 2013 Network Rail’s team ‘A Couple of Peanuts’ won with a time of 02:58:08. If your organisation or business wants to follow in the footsteps of the previous winning teams then go to www.mkmarathon.co.uk/corporate
