Surrey Sports Park opened its doors for the first time last month, bringing people in Surrey a high standard facility for all sports and levels of ability. The University of Surrey has built the multi million pound park with the hope of attracting national and international training and competitive events to the area.
With a 120-station fitness suite, 3 multi-purpose sports halls and exercise studios, a 12m high climbing wall and a wealth of outdoor facilities and pitches, the new sports park is a great addition to sporting resources in the area.
Specifically for runners looking to work on their speed, there is a 2 lane, 60m sprint track and the park can act as a base for runners to explore the surrounding areas before returning to the fitness centre or sauna to warm down.
Developers of the facility describe their vision, "Surrey Sports Park is one of Europe's premiere sites for elite sport, physical activity, well-being and leisure. The values of performance, participation and personal development underpin the very heart of the complex. Bringing together high quality facilities and passionate people with a desire to achieve, Surrey Sports Park provides a venue that supports the ambitions of all users, regardless of ability, from world-class athletes to grassroots beginners."
