Winter is, in many ways, the hardest season to stick to a consistent training plan: cold conditions, limited daylight and the various nights out that will start to fill the calendar. By way of helping you maintain the levels of fitness achieved throughout the year, specialist retailers Up and Running has organised a series of Night Runs across the country.
In locations ranging from Darlington to Milton Keynes, Sheffield to Southampton, the events will be facilitated by a run leader from Up and Running. Members of the group can suggest routes and distances and they will be given a head torch to ensure their safety.
Jonathan Midwood, general manager of Up & Running UK, explained the motivation behind organising the Night Run events: “The winter months can be some of the most difficult to stay motivated in, especially when it comes to the call of the road OR the call of the hearth. Night Runs provide an opportunity to run in safety, to train with a group of likeminded people and to stay motivated during those dark winter nights. We would love runners of all standards to take part and for them to start 2016 with a good chance of a PB, no matter what their running/ fitness goals are.”
To sign up to a run, just fill out your name and find out your local store. The series is supported by Silverpoint, Silva and Ron Hill.
