Pancreatic cancer is tough. It is tough to diagnose, tough to treat, tough to research and tough to survive. In the UK, less than 7% of people with pancreatic cancer will survive beyond five years.
Pancreatic Cancer UK provides expert, personalised support and information via their free and confidential Support Line and through a range of publications. The charity funds innovative research to find the breakthroughs that will change how we understand, diagnose and treat pancreatic cancer. They campaign for change, for better care, treatment and research and for pancreatic cancer to have the recognition it needs.
Gurjit Purewal has supported Pancreatic Cancer UK for five years in memory of his mother-in-law who passed away ten years ago. Gurjit has raised more than £9,000 through a variety of events including the Royal Parks Half Marathon. Gurjit said: “I’m honoured to represent such a fantastic cause and the support I receive in return is second to none. From the minute I sign up to an event, the team are on hand to provide as much advice, guidance and encouragement as I need and you can tell they are truly passionate about the cause too. It feels like we are all in it together.”
