Paula Radcliffe is making a flying visit to Birmingham in October to start a race organised by one of the UK’s best loved running coaches. Bud’s Run is a family-friendly event at the University of Birmingham organised by Bud Baldaro.
Formerly a GB national coach, Baldaro has coached numerous international athletes in his 40 year career and has been based at Birmingham for the past ten years. In 2009, he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease and wants to aid research into the long-term condition via his love of running.
The event takes place on Sunday 4 October. Paula Radcliffe said: “Bud is a special man who has always been so positive and supportive for as long as I have known him.”
And Baldaro returned the kind words, he said: “We're so grateful to Paula for getting involved. She’s one of the finest British athletes of all time and is a true hero.
“The course is traffic-free and loops round the main campus. There will also be a junior sprint track, barbecue, jazz band, stalls, and 1k loop for Parkinson’s sufferers. So whatever kind of runner you are, please come and join us for a great family day out.”
Online entries are open now at the event website.
