On your marks, get set, Doe!

Richmond RUNFEST 2020 launch

They do love a deer-related pun at Richmond RUNFEST. And with Old Deer Park as the finish line for the flagship marathon and half marathon, why not? The dates to mark in your diary for this fun and pun loving event next year are 12-13 September.

As we all know, money doesn't Roe on trees (although try telling that to some politicians) so we are delighted that RUNFEST 2019 broke new records by raising over £700,000 for charity, taking the amount donated by you wonderful punners to more than £3million in seven years.

Although the programme has been tweaked for 2020 the key elements remain. Racing starts on Saturday 12 September with Kew Gardens 10K, RUNFEST Kid's Mile and graze Richmond Sundown 5K. The latter event, as its title suggests, sees the sun set leading into the RUNFEST after-party at Richmond Food and Fitness Expo, with live music and free beer from Fuller's for competitors.

Sunday is all about endurance runners as they tackle 'London's flattest marathon' or half marathon. Both start within Kew Gardens and finish in Old Deer Park. The marathon takes in three iconic bridges, two Royal Palaces and one of the most famous rivers in the world – Old Father Thames. Richmond Half Marathon is hardly short on spectacle itself, as it follows a similar Thameside route. The weekend concludes with the popular NIKE Family Funrun in Old Deer Park.

Headline charities for 2020 are Children with Cancer UK and the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew Charity. Richmond RUNFEST website has all the details needed to secure your standard or charity entry. There is also an excellent range of free training plans available to download here

There may be nearly nine months to Richmond RUNFEST 2020 but this event sells out earlier every year. In September this year, nearly 10,000 runners finished the six-race programme in historic Kew Gardens and Old Deer Park.
