As the dust settles following The Running Awards 2016, it looks like this annual celebration of excellence and achievement is building a secure place in the affection of the UK running community.
Big winners in 2016 were Brooks who lifted best men's and women's running shoe for the Adrenaline GTS; Scottish-based retailer Run4It, another double winner; and Garmin, best wearable tech brand and top tech product, the Forerunner 220.
However it was the human angle which really came to the fore on a night when 400 industry leaders and celebrities came together at Indigo at The O2 in London on Friday 22 April. An excited Sam Mollaghan accepted the first ‘Inspiration in Running’ Award on behalf of Sport England and England Athletics for her contribution to the This Girl Can Run campaign; while in one of the most popular presentations Ivo Gormley at Goodgym accepted the first ‘Innovation in Running’ Award from parkrun's Tom Williams.
Mike Bushell was presenting the awards for the third consecutive year, and was joined on stage by special guests and celebrity presenters including Martin Yelling, Paul Evans, Susie Chan and Nell McAndrew.
