Running Festival For Kingston

a new running festival for Kingston

The historic town of Kingston Upon Thames in south west London is to host a new running festival called the Kingston Run Challenge on Sunday 14 October 2012. The running event, previously known as RunKingston, has evolved into a more extensive contest with the addition of 24 mile races to the already established eight and 16 mile routes. Entry costs from £22 to £30 per person depending on race length.

In addition to a 24-mile race for individuals there will be a Challenge Relay where teams of three runners will take on eight miles each to complete a 24 mile, three-lap course in the quickest possible time. All the races will start and finish in the town's historic Market Place.

Ros Morgan, Chief Executive of Kingstonfirst, comments: "We hope that this event will attract a lot of interest from runners around the UK as it offers the chance to race a flat and picturesque route that takes in Hampton Court Palace, the Thames and some of Kingston's most famous sites. The Challenge is perfect for those training for any endurance event including: a marathon, a half-marathon, a long-distance triathlon, an Ironman and even an ultramarathon."

All participants will receive a Kingston Run Challenge Medal engraved with the distance they achieved on the day. The Antoinette Hotel is providing a special runners' rates for those wanting to stay the night before or after the race. There is also a late check-out available.

The deadline for entries is Monday 8th October at 9pm. For full entry information, see the event website.
