Countdown to Great Bristol Half Marathon

Great Bristol Half Marathon start 2018

The final countdown is on for Simplyhealth Great Bristol Half Marathon on Sunday (15 September) – the run with a view that routes through the Avon George and under the iconic Clifton Suspension Bridge.

Starting in Anchor Road, the course follows River Avon out and back for eight miles before passing through Bristol Harbourside and entering the city centre and Castle Park area at 11 miles. Then it's one final push to the grandstand finish at Anchor Road.

With 10 music points around the course and an uplifting cheer point at Children's Hospice South West runners will have plenty of support en route and there is a special incentive from Strava this year to try to make your last mile the fastest.

Every competitor with a Strava account will be encouraged to finish strong by being entered into the Strava Last Mile Challenge and those whose last mile split is their fastest will receive a free trial subscription to Strava Summit and be entered into a draw for free entry into the 40th Great Bristol Half Marathon next year plus a Garmin Forerunner 645 Music, £100 Sports Shoes voucher and Strava Summit free for a year!

Great Bristol Half Marathon is open to all standards but attracts many elite runners due to the fast and attractive course. In fact, of all the Great Run events in the UK, it's Bristol that has the fastest average finishing times.

The race incorporates the ENGIE Business Challenge to encourage local businesses to compete against each other in small, medium and large size company categories. The event village opens at 7:30am and Simplyhealth Great Bristol Half Maraton starts in waves from 9:15am with the wheelchair and visually impaired athletes off first.

Simplyhealth provides access to expert training, nutrition and injury prevention advice and post event recovery tips at Simplyhealth Train and Prepare along with providing practical support with a new post race stretch zone at the finish area.
