The new event is being marketed as the Southampton Marafun and a feature is the route which has been designed to take in key city landmarks. These inclu deSt Mary’s Stadium, the Bargate and the Itchen Bridge which will be closed for both events. Starting in Hoglands Park in the heart of the city the route offers a mix of coastal, urban and green areas before a grandstand finish in Guildhall Square.
Southampton has not seen an event of this kind for more than 30 years and organisers are working closely with the city council to create races which will appeal to a wide range of runners.
