If you have been resisting the urge to fly while dressed as Santa it really is now or never. This weekend's runABC South race listings show more than a dozen opportunities to don the red suit and grace an event with your presents!
On Saturday (16 December) we have the Dinton Santa Dash at Wokingham and Valentines Park Santa Dash at Ilford. The former is a booted and suited Santa special over 5k in Dinton Pastures Country Park. All entries for the 5k and Mini-Dash 2k receive an appropriately sized, gender-specific Santa suit, medal and mince pie with festive awards for top three finishers.
Valentines Park Santa Dash is promoted by Craig Thornton of The Race Organiser and will feature all the usual hallmarks of their races, plus the added splash of colour provided by so many Santa-suited runners. The Santa suit, medal and goody bag are included in the modest entry fee and the gently undulating course could produce fast times.
Also on Saturday is the Christmas Pudding Dash from Pett Village Hall, Hastings promoted by Nice Work. This is a multi-terrain 5 mile run through glorious muddy trails around the village. Finishers will be rewarded with Christmas Puds, festive medals and warming mulled wine.
Nice Work are also behind the Kent Christmas Cracker at Betteshanger Country Park, Sholden near Deal on Sunday. This long established festive favourite enjoys an accurately measured, two-lap tarmac course on the purpose-built cycle circuit at this venue. Ideal for hard core racers and social runners and there is also a children's race and 2-mile Fun Run.
Other fun runs where the fun seems to be more important than the run element include Jingle Jog 5K to the sound of a thousand bells at Frimley Lodge Park near Camberley; Rudolph's Rampage 7K multi-terrain at Painswick Rugby Club; Run Through Christmas 10K/5K at Greenwich Park; Christmas Cracker 10K at Weston-Super-Mare and Christmas Jingle Fun Run at Burnham-on-Sea.
All the above and many more races are listed in runABC South race listings
brought to you in association with Sports Tours International
