Runners are being encouraged to glow for it and take advantage of the early bird discount at the Supernova London 5K on Saturday 1 April 2017. The event is being held at Olympic Park in London, with a jaw-dropping route taking in the ArcelorMittal Orbit, Stratford Waterfront, London Aquatics Centre and, of course, the Olympic Park Stadium itself.
Participants will set off from the ArcelorMittal Orbit at 7pm, as dusk falls on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, before heading north, running parallel to the Stratford Waterfront before taking a right over the bridge towards London Aquatics Centre. The route then swings back down over the bridge before meandering north throughout the magnificent Olympic grounds. The emphasis is on colour and sound around the route, providing runners and spectators alike with an unforgettable race. Fancy dress is strongly encouraged.
Race director, Neil Kilgour says: “We’re very proud to be launching the Supernova 5K series around the UK. The event has successfully taken place along Bournemouth Pier and The Kelpies in Falkirk for the past two years. We wanted to open it up to other venues to get even more people involved in this spectacular run.
“These events are for everyone, and we want to get as many people involved as possible. Whether you’re aged 5 or 50, a regular runner or you haven’t run in years; these events aim to bring families and friends together, dressed in the brightest, flashiest clothing you can find, to light up these iconic venues. The runners 'are' the event!
Last year’s event sold out with thousands of runners descending on Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
Entries for the Supernova 5K running series are open now and start from just £12.50. For more information and to enter visit the Supernova 5K website.
