Second Time Around For Surrey Half

action from Surrey Half Marathon

Surrey Half Marathon returns on 8 March, 2015 after a hugely successful launch earlier this year. The closed-road event has already established itself as the biggest in the county and 6,500 entrants are expected for the 2015 running. The half marathon will start and finish at Woking Leisure Centre and the course will take runners through the country lanes to the south west of Woking before returning to the town for the big finish!

The scenic course is flat and fast, so it’s a great place to aim for your best 13.1 mile finish time. The route will be lined with local live bands, and club cyclists will lead the runners out onto the course. A 1.5m kids race is also being staged.

Surrey Half Marathon will be working closely with local charities. The official charity partners for 2015 are Shooting Star CHASE, WWF, Woking and Sam Beare Hospices and Harrison’s Fund. We hope that runners will use the event as an opportunity to fundraise for charity.

Race director Toby Jenkins says: “I live locally and had always wanted to put on a half marathon for the community. 2014 was our inaugural event and it was epic. Thousands of runners, crowds of spectators, local bands along the route, more than we ever dared imagine raised for charity, and hundreds of volunteers all working together. What more could a race director hope for! We’ll be even bigger and better in 2015. Join us.”
