Following the success of the inaugural event last year, Surrey Hills Challenge returns to the spectacular Greensand Way on Sunday 24 September. Held in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) there are five different events to choose from with something that should suit everyone.
There's A Challenge In Those Hills
'The Ultra' features more than 2,000m ascent within 12 hours over 60km from Haslemere Hall to Denbies Wine Estate. If that is a little too extreme there is 'The Forty' – a mere 40km with 1,272m ascent from Witley.
Traditional distances are also catered for with 'The Half' – a standard 21km from Ewhurst to Dorking – plus 'The Ten' and 'The Five', which are more family orientated 10km and 5km runs on a circular course from Denbies in Dorking.
Surrey Hills Challenge will be raising funds for Surrey Hills Trust Fund to exclusively help local projects and community groups within Surrey Hills AONB. The fund is part of the Community Foundation for Surrey, an independent charitable trust established to inspire local giving for local need. They have supported more than 2,000 projects by awarding grants to groups making a difference to the quality of community life.
People of all ages and fitness can participate in any of the five different running and walking challenges. The Greensand Way forms the beautiful backdrop for all of the events. Entry fees range from £80 for the ultra to £15 for the 5k, with family bargains for two adults and up to three children in the 10k (£55) and 5k (£35).
Full details and entries are available now at the Surrey Hills Challenge website, Facebook and Twitter.
