Summer Treats For Southampton Runners

a group from Sweatshop Running Community Southampton

Runners in Southampton based out of the Sweatshop store at Hanover Buildings, Bargate are looking forward to a summer of treats with the arrival of new neighbours Italian Creams who are claiming to serve the city's best Italian gelato.  Post-run ice cream is just one other reason for joining the enthusiastic shop-based Sweatshop Running Community.

Store manager Juanita Castle told southernrunningguide.com: "We have a dedicated group at different levels of ability.  We have a 10 week beginner programme in which we take people from 0-5k and a main group of runners who do anywhere between 5k-10k.

"We pride ourselves on being a very social group who enter most of the local races and go out for meals once a month. Members support each other no matter what distance is being ran and encourage everyone to their goals.  The community feel extends to parkruns where SRC members have volunteered.
"The group meets on a Monday night at 7pm in the Sweatshop store and we have various routes run around Southampton city centre including Ocean village, the Common, Portswood and over the Itchen bridge. It's all free of charge. Except the ice cream, that's an optional extra!"
